With assistance from the Watanabe Memorial Foundation for the Advancement of Technology, in 2012 JISTEC carried out an “Investigation into the Evolution of International Science and Technology Exchange Policy from Domestic Science and Technology”.

As a continuation of this previous investigation, this research examined programs such as the Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology and the ERATO Basic Research Program. In doing so, the research aimed to develop the methods for conducting historical research in order to assist the implementation of “evidence based policy making in science and technology innovation”.
